Description

Performs all tasks of a mechanical nature necessary to test, calibrate, set-up, machine align, adjust, repair, overhaul, clean, maintain, construct, modify, assemble or install all types of plant production machinery and equipment or any parts thereof, and adjusts, repairs or replaces faulty parts as necessary. Installs both heavy and light machinery and equipment, inspects, diagnoses and repairs the malfunction or damage. Installation and repair of welded, threaded and flanged piping, fitting, tubing and valves. Understands piping, schematic flow diagrams and equipment arrangement drawings. Is skilled in the overhaul, operation, repair, and maintenance of all types of pumps, conveyors, and all other classes of general mechanical equipment, as applicable.

Reads bills of material, specifications and uses shop mathematics where necessary for job layout. Sets up and operates all Maintenance Department equipment including precision machine tools and other machinery not classified as precision machine tools, as required. Maintenance Department machines and equipment not classified as precision machines are horizontal bandsaws, drill press, hydraulic press, arbor press, all types of welding and fabrication equipment, pipe cutting and threading machine, etc.

Performs all tasks of a welding and fabricating nature necessary to construct, repair, modify, layout, or weld metal structures, piping, or equipment. Installs, repairs and constructs all types of welded and flanged piping, valves and fittings including copper sweat tubing.

Uses shop and fabricating tools such as compass, dividers, square, plumb bobs, line and precision levels, portable grinders and sanders and other tools of the trade.

Must be familiar with OSHA.PART 1910, SUBPART M: COMPRESSED AIR EQUIPMENT AND PART 1910, SUBPART Q: WELDING, CUTTING AND BRAZING STANDARDS.
