Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of food processing plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages Supervisors engaged in processing food products.

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with dismantling, moving, installing, or repairing of machines and equipment.

Approves purchase orders for plant materials or products.

Overall responsibility for plant operations and employees.

Food Defense and Safety:

The Plant Manager is a key member of the Food Defense Team. Plant Manager will be the primary contact representative from the Operations Department at Plant 2.

Assist in the development and ensuring the food defense plan is enforced with all employees.

Provides input to the FDT (Food Defense Team) on the production of the products and they may be affected by a tampering situation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages four subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of about 23 employees in the Maintenance Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in engineering or food science preferred. Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
